Concept art from a Mystic Champion Quest title

London game development studio

We build worlds worth getting lost in.

Mystic Champion Quest is a Shoreditch studio crafting original RPGs, live-ops titles, and full-cycle co-development for teams shipping on PC, console, and mobile.

Our studio

A tight-knit team of makers, not a factory.

Founded in Shoreditch, shipping worldwide

We started in 2016 above a coffee roaster on Rivington Street and have since shipped nine titles across Steam, Nintendo Switch, and iOS. Twenty-two designers, engineers, and artists sit under one roof in EC2A — no outsourced pipelines, no anonymous hand-offs.

Systems-first, story-led design

Systems-first, story-led design

Our combat and progression systems are prototyped in-engine within the first fortnight of a project. We pair that rigour with a narrative team that has written for tabletop RPGs, so mechanics and story ship as one coherent experience.

From vertical slice to launch and beyond

We take projects from a signed pitch deck through to a polished vertical slice, full production, and post-launch live-ops. Studios also bring us in mid-project for co-development when they need a senior team that can read an unfamiliar codebase fast.

Good to know

Questions studios ask us first.

We ship primarily in Unreal Engine 5 and Unity, with in-house C++ and C# expertise. We target PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and mobile. If you already have a codebase in a custom engine, our co-dev team is comfortable reading and extending unfamiliar systems.

A two-week prototyping sprint starts at £14,000. Full original development typically runs from £180,000 and 6 months for a focused title, scaling with scope. After a discovery call we send a fixed-scope proposal with milestones so you always know what each payment unlocks.

Yes — roughly a third of our work is embedding senior engineers into an existing team to hit a specific milestone, such as netcode, combat feel, or console certification. We can typically onboard within two weeks and work in your tools, tracker, and version control.

For client projects, you own the IP outright — code, art, and design are assigned to you on final payment. For co-productions where we share development risk, ownership terms are agreed up front in the contract. We are always happy to sign an NDA before a pitch.

Absolutely. We are at 58 Rivington Street in Shoreditch, a five-minute walk from Old Street station. We host playtests and milestone reviews on-site and are glad to have partners in for a build session — just email ahead so we can set up a station for you.
